The roots of MOFIF were as a as a member of the committee of La Table Féministe participating in the project: « Qui prend pays… L’impact du parrainage sur les droits à l’égalité des femmes immigrantes », about the impact of sponsoring on the equality of rights of francophone women (published by La Table Féministe in 1999).

Three major recommendations were proposed by the participants of this community forum. The most important was the successful reduction of the sponsorship responsibility period from the original 10 years to the current 3 years.

Our Birth:

MOFIF — Ontario Association of Francophone Immigrant Women — was created as a non-profit organization on the 31st of March, 2001 in Ottawa during the provincial conference of immigrant women.

Our Evolution:

Since its creation, MOFIF has carried out various research, projects and activities, as well as updating its strategic plan. The MOFIF projects already completed and the projects in process are described in the pages: Projets realisés and Projets en cours.

Thank you for visiting our web site.

Together we can contribute to a trouble-free immigration and a successful life for the francophone women in Ontario.

We praise the courage of each francophone woman who, when immigrating to this new country, often has left behind her family, her friends, and the places where she grew up and developed.
